This is where I wrote The Spiritual Vixen’s Guild to an Unapologetic Life and The Maiden Voyage. This is where my mother-in-law, Jeannine Rhine Schaub, the original owner of the cabin, spent decades writing a weekly article for the newspaper she ran with her husband. It’s a powerful vortex for the creative flow, and the good news is I am hosting a few writing retreats this summer. 

The invitation is limited to 6-7 writers to ensure that there is ample time for everyone to discuss, discover and dive deep into their writing. The retreat includes eight weeks of a virtual writing group which will take place on Monday mornings or evenings in August and September. The virtual component is designed to support consistency and connection before and after our time on the island.

The enchanted experience of five days and four nights on an island surrounded by fellow writers engaging in stimulating conversations and thought-provoking prompts will ignite the imagination and stir the soul.

How to Get Here

DRIVE

Drive to Bayfield, Wisconsin. Hop on the ferry, and we will meet you at the dock! In the summer months, the ferry leaves every 30 minutes during the day, and the 2.5-mile trip takes about 25 minutes one way. Passengers can walk, take a bike or drive their vehicles aboard for a visit to Madeline Island.

Fly

There are two airport options. The nearest airport to Bayfield is Ironwood (IWD) Airport which is 38.2 miles away.

Other nearby airports include Duluth (DLH) (64.8 miles) and Rhinelander (RHI) (105 miles.

We can pick you up at either airport. Just confirm your time of arrival.
