In a recent meditation, I asked Mary Magdalene, “what’s the deal was?” Why was your character so annihilated? Were you a prostitute and how did you come into your wealth?
I heard the word ORACLE. I have never used this word and I had no real idea what ORACLE meant. I thought it was a deck of cards that you used to tell the future… or maybe a crystal ball? So I looked it up.
1 a : a person (such as a priestess of ancient Greece) through whom a deity is believed to speak the prophecies of the Delphic oracle
2a : a person giving wise or authoritative decisions or opinions
She became an oracle of pop culture.
b : an authoritative or wise expression or answer
An oracle is a woman who supposedly speaks for the god(s). In ancient Greece, young women would join the temple and learn how to come in contact with a certain god or goddess. People would come and ask questions and predictions of her, and because of her training, she would be able to speak what the gods told her was the absolute truth. Perhaps the most famous oracle was the oracle at Delphi, who spoke for Apollo, god of the sun, music, and poetry. The term Oracle can also be used for anything or anybody who connects with a certain deity to make accurate predictions.
I found this discovery to be fascinating. I did not know that a PERSON could be an ORACLE. So I’ve decided to give this year to being an ORACLE for St. Mary Magdalene. To unearth this feminine tradition.
I informed my husband of my new spiritual adventure and he rudded his head with laughter. I am sure he is worried that I have slipped into the deep end. 🙂 But I like keeping him on his toes.
So who was she and how did she come into power?
Mary Magdalene was a priestess, a queen, and an Oracle. She came into power and public appreciation by the right of her consciousness. She was a pure and generous channel of great council. She was extremely beloved and honored for her spiritual devotion and wisdom. She knew and honored the truth. She was the original Spiritual Vixen. She showed up, paid attention, told the truth, loved like crazy and never forgot to laugh at the little ways of fear.
